There’s a fantastic little pasta restaurant just a few blocks away from my house, with the (incredibly unique) name of Noodles. 🙂 It’s one of our family favorites, and I’ve ordered nearly every item on the menu and have never been disappointed. They have reasonable prices and they’re so close that we order from them way too often! I’ve been on a spaghetti and meatballs kick for the last few months and have ordered it multiple times. I love that their meatballs are so flavorful and savory, with a delicious combination of flavors. I had been pondering how to make similar meatballs at home when suddenly it hit me – mix Italian sausage with the ground beef! The result was these absolutely delicious Italian meatballs.

These meatballs are super easy to make! I usually do all the mixing by hand (it’s strangely satisfying) and they come together quickly and then bake in the oven. If you want to plan ahead, you can double or triple the recipe and keep some on hand for future meals. They freeze wonderfully and are super easy to throw into a pot of spaghetti sauce or soup. They’re similar to my baked meatballs, but the Italian sausage adds some really nice flavor and makes them perfect to add to any Italian dish.

The texture of these Italian meatballs is so much better than frozen meatballs, without very much more effort. I like to use a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop my meatballs, but you can definitely just eyeball them if you prefer. These meatballs are fantastic!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 medium red onion finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, Italian sausage, bread crumbs, milk, and egg. Add the onion, parsley, garlic, salt, and parmesan, and mix until well combined.
  • Scoop one inch meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake 25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
