These chewy and soft spiced fig cookies are so easy to make, and have a delicious and elegant combination of flavors!

I’ve been doing a little sorting with the categories on my blog lately, and that’s how I came to the knowledge that I have 134 published cookie recipes! And while that may sound like a lot of cookie recipes, there is always room for another one (or another hundred). I bake cookies at least once a week, and while my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe is usually my go-to, sometimes it’s fun to change things up. These spiced fig cookies are unique and delicious, with a delightful combination of flavors and textures. They are so good!
I first made a version of these cookies a super long time ago, when I had an unexpected abundance of fresh figs on hand. My family really enjoyed them, but I felt like the fresh figs didn’t add a lot of flavor. I thought it would be fun to a try a version with dried figs instead, and they made the cookies even better! Although I do like fig flavor, I don’t have a lot of experience baking with figs at home. I found them easy to work with, and I love the texture and flavor they add to these cookies. Consider me sold on them! The combination of the dried figs with the gentle spices, and a little added texture from the walnuts, is cookie perfection!
