Okay, I recognize that I am hardly reinventing the wheel with these caprese skewers, but they are too good not to share! For one thing, they taste absolutely delicious. For another, they’re super easy and fun to make. And lastly (and probably most importantly), I made them with tomatoes and basil that I grew in my very own garden, so of course I have to show them off! (I’m still working on being brave enough to try making homemade mozzarella cheese, but I’ll keep you posted on that one.) These caprese skewers are the perfect little appetizer for your summer party or picnic, and they’re adorable to boot!

I made these for my son’s bear-themed birthday party (we call him Ollie Bear) and they were a big hit! I like them drizzled with a little balsamic reduction, but they’re great just as they are too. The combination of sweet juicy tomatoes (I particularly love Sungold tomatoes) and creamy fresh mozzarella is totally delicious, and the fresh and crisp basil is the perfect complement. These skewers are a great way to round out a charcuterie board or snack plate. Assuming you are relatively gentle with the tomatoes, they will keep well in the fridge for up to a few days. If you want to add a little extra flavor, you can sprinkle them with garlic salt, or use marinated mozzarella instead. There’s something so simple and delicious about the combination of these three ingredients, and I can’t get enough!
