When I think of summer foods, fresh sweet berries are definitely the first thing to come to mind. If there’s one drink that totally captures the essence of summer, it definitely has to be strawberry lemonade! It’s so bright and fresh, sweet and tangy, and tastes just like sunshine in a glass! It’s the perfect treat to enjoy on a hot summer day. I know we’re getting pretty close to wrapping up summer these days, but there’s still time to make some of this homemade strawberry lemonade and stretch out those sweet summer days a little bit longer.

This lemonade starts with a sweet and delicious fresh strawberry sauce, which is stirred into a simple homemade lemonade to make a totally irresistible drink! The combination of flavors is so refreshing, and both parts are simple and quick to make. You can make both ahead of time as well, so this lemonade is easy to make for a party, or serve for a crowd. I love the beautiful peachy pink color of the finished drink, and it’s beautiful served with a slice of lemon. This lemonade is the best!

Total Time:30 minutes

Ingredients

for the strawberry sauce:

  • 3 cups finely chopped strawberries
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup sugar depending on the sweetness of your strawberries
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon corn starch
  • 2 tablespoons water

for the lemonade:

  • 2 large lemons washed
  • 4 cups cold water plus enough ice to make 6 cups total
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  • To make the sauce, add the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a medium pot and stir well. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. While the mixture is heating, dissolve the corn starch in the water and whisk until smooth. Add the corn starch mixture to the strawberry mixture and stir well. Let simmer 2-3 minutes, or until slightly thickened. Remove and let cool completely. Store in the refrigerator.
  • To make the lemonade, cut the ends off the lemons, then cut each lemon into eighths. Stir together the water and sugar, and mix until the sugar is dissolved. Add the lemons and the sugar water to a blender and pulse 8-10 times, until the lemons are broken up slightly. Pour the mixture through a strainer into a large pitcher and add the ice.
  • To serve the lemonade, add two tablespoons of strawberry sauce to the bottom of a glass. Fill the glass with lemonade, then stir to mix well.

  1. I think this will be a great drink for my husband. He likes Strawberries a lot and given the health benefits it will be a great item to drink when he comes home from his lunchtime four mile walks.
