Valentine Snack Mix
This three ingredient Valentine snack mix is toddler-friendly, but so delicious the whole family will enjoy it!

I know it’s kind of par for the course with toddlers, but my two year old seems to be getting more and more picky by the minute. I swear at this point she seems to subsist mostly just on air and her own stubbornness (or as her Early Intervention specialist calls it, her “spiciness” 🙂 ). She is a great kid (and I love every bit of her, no matter how spicy she can be) but coming up with things for her to eat is a challenge! We’re working on her sensory issues and doing everything we can to make mealtimes fun and low-pressure, but sometimes I’m just stymied trying to find things she’ll eat. The cereal bars she loved last week are a no-go this week, or the applesauce pouches I bought are the wrong brand, or she has suddenly decided that all milk is yucky. It’s exhausting.

Since she’s more likely to eat snacks than to sit down and eat an actual meal, I’ve been trying to come up with a variety of snacks for her, especially ones that are easy to take on the go. This Valentine snack mix is fun and colorful, contains some of her favorite foods, and is nutritious enough that I don’t feel too guilty giving her a cupful of it while we’re on a walk or out running errands. Especially with all of the treats going around at Valentine’s Day, it’s nice to have something to give her that contains at least some nutrients!

All of the ingredients for the snack mix came from Target, but they should be pretty easily available at the grocery store or Trader Joe’s. I actually prefer the Trader Joe’s strawberry O’s to the Cheerios brand, but my toddler doesn’t like the texture, so I went with what she prefers! I feel like freeze-dried fruit used to be much harder to find, but I’m seeing it in lots of stores now, so hopefully it won’t be difficult to find. If you haven’t tried yogurt melts before, they are fantastic! I don’t remember them being around when my older two were little, but they are a staple at my house. (And yes, I will admit that I totally snack on them myself because they are absolutely delicious!)

My older kids are also huge fans of this snack mix, so it’s definitely not just for toddlers. The strawberry flavor is fantastic, and the combination of flavors and textures is delicious!
