This crispy oven bacon is so easy to make, and comes out perfect every time. It’s an easy and mess free way to enjoy bacon!

When I was growing up, my mom was really into “healthy eating” (or at least the 1980s version of healthy eating, meaning mostly low fat and very little junk food). Our family very rarely ate red meat. We ate mostly turkey and chicken, including lots of substitutes for red meat, like turkey bacon instead of pork bacon. After I grew up and started cooking for myself, I realized I had no idea how to cook red meat! It has been a learning process for me, but I’m now pretty confident in my ability to cook things like pot roast and beef stew. Bacon has always been a little tricky, though! It’s messy and it’s hard to get it cooked to my liking without overcooking it. This crispy oven bacon recipe has been a game changer for me! It’s so easy to make, and adaptable to whatever type of bacon I have on hand. Best of all, it’s totally delicious!

This recipe isn’t exactly rocket science, but if you struggle with cooking bacon like I do, I hope it helps you too! Cleanup is super easy with a foil-lined pan, and it doesn’t make the whole house smell like bacon. (I mean, I love the smell of bacon, but don’t always love when it lingers in my house for hours after we’ve eaten.) This truly is the best way to make bacon!

Ingredients
- 8-10 slices bacon
optional toppings:
- black pepper
- brown sugar
- garlic powder
- maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400. Line a baking sheet with tin foil, and add a cooling rack to the baking sheet. Spray the cooling rack with cooking spray. Lay the bacon out evenly on the cooling rack, making sure not to overlap pieces. Sprinkle with the toppings if desired.
- Bake 10 minutes, then flip the bacon pieces and cook for an additional 10-20 minutes, until desired crispness is reached. Thicker slices of bacon will take longer to cook, and thinner pieces will cook faster. When the bacon is fully cooked, remove from the oven and move to paper towels to remove excess grease. Serve hot.
